  • Dog Bites
  • Acne

  • Plastic Surgery (Facial Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery)

Plastic surgery scars will heal faster allowing the artistic work done to remain as intended by the surgeon. Scar tissue continues to accumulate until the wound is healed. Excess scar formation occurs when people take longer to heal than normal. If they sleep on one side for example, one side of the scar heals different than the other especially in nose surgery. Blood and energy do not flow through scar tissue as it is thicker and more fibrous than regular tissue. This means that blood and energy must go around the scar tissue and thus pain is created and other consequences of minimal blood flow appear eg. headaches, pain, numbness, dull skin color, or dry skin. Plastic surgeons are sending their patients to have MicroCurrent treatments immediately following surgery to accelerate the healing process and minimize the formation of scar tissue. Clients see results sooner than those who do not use MicroCurrent after surgery and Surgeons maintain their good reputation for facial sculpting.

Surgery (Shoulder, Knee, Abdominal, All)

Range of motion greatly increases where it was minimal following surgery. Acupuncture is very successful following elective or emergency surgery. Surgery is really a type of trauma, but it is controlled by the surgeon to achieve a particular result. Nonetheless, there is still swelling, bruising and pain, and loss of function just as with accidental trauma. Sometimes there is post operative pain which does not improve as expected, and Acupuncture/MicroCurrent can be used to reduce the painful sensations. Treatment should be applied to scars immediately as they begin to heal. I use Acupuncture, MicroCurrent, Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, and herbs for scars that are painful, or are causing referred pain because they greatly decrease pain.

Frozen Shoulder Injury

If you have an injury to the shoulder, initially the blood vessels in the area constrict to stop or prevent bleeding. Next, inflammation occurs as the vessels dilate and allow nutrients, proteins, and white blood cells to enter the tissue. Following the clearing of debris, the injured tissue is replaced by collagen (scar tissue). If inflammation continues for a long time, more and more collagen is laid down. Eventually, excess scar tissue obstructs muscles, tendons and ligaments in the shoulder, which now have no place to move, and their fibers literally adhere to each other. Fibers are glued together preventing the flow of nutrients and fluids from entering the injured tissue and waste from leaving the site. As the area dehydrates, movement is impaired in all directions and the result is a frozen shoulder. I use Acupuncture, MicroCurrent, Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, and herbs which greatly allow for increased mobility.

Phantom Symptoms

Sometimes scar-related symptoms are not obvious. For example, chronic headaches have been cured by treatment of scars from plastic facial surgery. Scars often send false signals to a person’s nervous system, causing seemingly unrelated symptoms that do not respond well to any treatment, or general symptoms such as lack of energy. Acupuncture/MicroCurrent are very effective in facilitating proper scar healing and clearing the wrong signaling of scars. When this interference is cleared, scars look better and the phantom symptoms are cleared.

Post Surgical Pain

Post surgical pain is usually treated with pain medicines by Western physicians. Acupuncture and the Chinese medical modalities listed below are used to move stagnant blood, lymph, scar tissue, and adhesions that are causing the pain. Before you start on pharmaceutical drugs or have nerve blocks or more surgery, please consider Acupuncture. MicroCurrent, Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, and herbs are of great assistance as well. Ask me about these treatments.

Adhesions Causes

90% of Abdominal Surgery patients develop adhesions as the body attempts to repair itself. This normal response can occur after surgery, infection, trauma, or radiation. Repair cells within the body cannot tell the difference between organs. If an organ undergoes repair and comes into contact with another part of itself, or another organ, scar tissue may form to connect the 2 surfaces. Most commonly, adhesions cause pain by pulling nerves, either within an organ confined by an adhesion or within the adhesion itself. Acupuncture and MicroCurrent are able to break adhesions with great success.

Blocking The Body’s Energy Flow

Scars due to accidental trauma or to medical surgery are frequently the cause of blockage in acupuncture channels. Health is believed to stem not only from the balance of energy but also from a free flow of energy. Any condition that blocks or impedes this free flow of energy is cause for concern. Scars can disrupt the body’s energy flow thus Acupuncture/MicroCurrent are recommended after any trauma or surgery.

How does Scar Removal Acupuncture and MicroCurrent work?

When treating scars, hair thin acupuncture needles are inserted at various points along the scar. In general, this treatment is completely painless. The insertion of the needle superficially into the skin creates a healing, inflammatory response: Dead cells and scar tissue are broken down by the body; circulation is increased to the area; the lymphatic system excretes the dead cells. Soon you will see visible changes in the appearance of the scar. If you are experiencing pain or decreased range of motion because of the scar, you will notice that you are able to move the area easier with less pain. The duration of treatment will depend on how long you’ve had the scar, how deep it is, and the severity of any pain you may be having.

MicroCurrent works in much the same way but there are no needles, just a mild sub-sensory current that will most likely lull you to sleep; it’s that relaxing!
